My wife and I had no insurance because current debts prevented us from being able to afford any kind of healthcare. In May of 2013, I had to undergo emergency treatment for lodged kidney stones that eventually had to be removed surgically. With no insurance, our savings and annuity plans were depleted to zero. We are now in more debt to the hospital and forced to pay for health insurance that we cannot afford. Our lives are day to day, skipping payments here and there and playing catch up with the other debts. I feel it is high time for this country to move to single payer for all U.S. citizens and leave private health insurance as an option for those who can afford it and would prefer it over government healthcare. Private healthcare should not be allowed to profit off my health and well being.
