Obama/GOP “Grand Bargain” Threatens Medicare
Medicare-for-All is the Solution!
Go here to email Congress asking them NOT to cut Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security.
Dear Single-Payer Healthcare Supporter:
The Presidential election is over but the fight to save Medicare intensifies. While Romney and Ryan campaigned for turning Medicare into a private voucher system, support for privatization comes from both sides of the aisle.
Just because President Obama won another term doesn’t mean that Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are safe. Far from it. Obama’s seeking a “grand bargain” with the Republican-controlled House by January 1.
The President, in order to avoid the so-called “fiscal cliff,” is willing to raise Medicare’s eligibility age from 65 to 67 and to cut Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security by $650 billion. This is no joking matter–these changes would mean life and death to the most vulnerable in our country.
President Obama is serious about these cuts:
“I am willing to move on entitlement reform–even if my own party is resisting–and I will bring them along as long as we have significant revenues so that people feel like there’s a fairly shared burden when it comes to deficit reduction.”
We can’t allow any deal to pass that threatens Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security.
We know improved Medicare-for-all (HR 676) is the solution–it would save Medicare, halt out-of-control healthcare costs, ease the deficit pressure, and bring universal healthcare to the nation.
Don’t cut Medicare or raise its eligibility age from 65. Don’t cut Medicaid. Instead, pass improved Medicare-for-all (HR 676) in order to create a truly universal healthcare system that will also reduce the deficit and save Americans $500 billion a year on healthcare costs.
Don’t cut Social Security or raise the retirement age. Instead, save the system by removing the $110,000 income cap on high-earners paying into Social Security.
Go here to email Congress with this message. And then follow up with a phone call to your Representative and Senators.
The poor and the middle-class already have more than their fair share of the dismal economy’s burden. Since the so-called economic recovery started two years ago, 93% of all income gains have gone to the top 1%. The super-rich aren’t hurting one bit.
Improved Medicare-for-all (HR 676) is the solution. Help us protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
