Organization: NBC/WSJ
Conducted: Dec 14-17, 2019
Exact wording: Adopting Medicare for All, a single payer health care system in which private health insurance would be eliminated and all Americans would get their health coverage from one government plan.
Sample Size: 900 adults
Overall Findings: 44% support, 53% oppose, 3% unsure/don’t know
Party Lines: 68% Democrats support, Republicans/Independents n/a
Summary: A 2019 NBC/WSJ poll found that 44% of Americans support Medicare for All. Support among Democrats is much higher than overall support for this policy. However, the wording of this poll seems biased against Medicare for All as it uses a vague description of the policy that fails to include its benefits.
