We are told that there are miilions of supporters for HR 676, but I don’t see them. I don’t see them when I go to work, I don’t see them when I go to shop. My car has HR676 written ALL OVER IT. It has make HEALTHCARE A HUMAN RIGHT in bumper stickers ALL OVER IT. You know what I see? Cold stares and glares.
So I am asking YOU, Dr. FLOWERS, please ask the leading organizations to send out a message to their email subscribers and tell all supporters of HR676 to VOTE WITH THEIR WINDOWS!!!

I have a sign I made up on each side of my back car windows (in bright orange paper which eventually faded to white) using various picket sign messages suggested, from previous demonstrations. In the middle of the sign I have: Then sign the petition to Congress For HR 676 at: http://www.healthcare-now.org. The website address is in giant fonts and almost takes up the width of the sign. I also have the PNHP web site on the sign.
I watched a co-worker copy down the info last summer, so I know people are taking note…literally. Don’t despair. You’re doing a great thing and you’re absolutely correct. This has to be an other way to get the word out since the main stream media will not (except for some on MSNBC and the like; although they don’t have enough PNHP people and others “in the know” on, and they have to various degrees weak and incomplete debating points and skills.)

We love what you are doing and we also have been doing our best to get the word out that Single Payer/Medicare for ALL is the way to go. It is absolutely mind-boggling that there are people who can’t or won’t see this as the solution to providing desperately needed competition to those greedy private health insurers.
Isn’t it odd that we make a huge fuss and make every effort to send relief to the citizens of Haiti – who are broke, sick, suffering, dying and have lost their houses – yet we elect someone to the Senate who ran on a platform of killing health reform that would bring relief to those citizens of the USA – who are broke, sick, suffering, dying and have lost their houses. Go figure!
It is time the President stopped laying down his Sir Walter Raleigh cape across the puddle and put his feet well and truly into it. The Republicans have no qualms about getting THEIR hands and feet dirty if it means political capital and there is no pretence at any form of gentlemanliness. In fact, they revel in their loutishness, lack of moral fiber and immense greed and however jaw-dropping the formula is, it appears to be working. Therefore, the Democrats’ antennae should be on high alert as there are enough people out there who subscribe to this way of conducting business and who have no plans to question its authenticity.
It is also time for the President to give up courting the Republicans. I suspect this health summit may cure him of his futile naive desire to have Republicans on board. You’d think that DeMint’s Waterloo comments would have given him just a little clue as to the plans the other side has for him, and now with Brown’s election, their resolve will be strengthened exponentially.
Thank you for all your efforts for health reform. We shall call Washington tomorrow and give them the requested message.
HUMANITARIAN MEDICAL FLIGHTS – PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW WE’RE HERE
By the way, apropos to health care, we have been trying to get the word out to patients and medical facilities alike, about our corporation, FOOTPRINTS IN THE SKY, a Denver-based Non-Profit 501 (c) (3) providing flights to medical facilities throughout the United States, for people in need of critical and life-saving medical care who cannot afford or use commercial airline service or air ambulance.
We have access to a large database of charter and business jets, allowing ambulatory patients, who would normally be unable to do so because of cost and other considerations, the opportunity to travel to their various treatment centers. Often patients find travel via scheduled airline service very difficult or impossible. SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES:
Single Payer Healthcare Reform is the only option that covers all Americans and saves billions of dollars for citizens, businesses, industry and all government entities, from now into the future.
The scheme of including a Public Option, in the current bills in Congress, would only make sense if it is open to every citizen, business and government entity who would choose it over the private for-profit health insurance companies.
At the national level, the design of a health care reform bill should eliminate the requirements and cost controls on insurance companies. Let them do what they have been doing. (See last weeks release of a report from HHS on the increases of insurance premiums around the country.) Let them have whatever caps and rejections based on pre-existing conditions.
Then, those who like their private insurance can keep it, as it is.
Then, the government would have no obligation to force citizens to buy health insurance from private for-profit companies. The government would have no obligation to subsidize low-income citizen’s premiums to private companies, as all low-income people would be given their insurance out of the public option plan.
This would eliminate the horrific Medicaid Programs in all the States and relieve them of a huge financial, bureaucratic burden.
The current system, as well as the current bills in Congress, constitute WELFARE for private insurance companies and HMOs. Elected officials who accept campaign contributions, and persons/entities who accept kick-backs/bribes, or profits support this form of WELFARE.
WHO STANDS ON THE SIDE OF OUR BUSINESSES, INDUSTRY AND CITIZENS?????????????????

As a retired nurse with an ongoing back injury that has been treated for over 15 years now I can PERSONALLY attest to the necessity of Universal Healthcare from both a personal & professional standpoint. I would certainly pray that we finally realize the necessity of this and MOVE to resolve this long debated & long awaited solution!
Just getting a divorce at 63 yrs of age. Current solid income (If my rentals remain occupied) $1800/mo. ,gross. Current health care insurance bid. $1000/mo. Figure the math on this one.
A message to President Obama:
David Jones, co-founder of HUMANA, Inc. just had an op-ed piece in the Louisville Courier-Journal (Feb 23, 2010). He agreed with most elements of your proposed health care reform package. Doesn’t that tell us exactly who will profit from this legislation? Once the insurers are embedded in our system, we will never get out from under the juggernaut of their greed.
The private insurers love the concept of “universal” coverage so long as we all buy our policies from them. They will then take our mandate money to pad executive salaries and shareholder profits.
Single payer Medicare for all is the only remedy for our sick and rapacious system
Save family budgets, save businesses, save our economy, save lives!

Harriet is absolutley correct. We Hoosiers for a Commonsense Health Plan are in total support of enhanced and improved Medicare for All system. Once a mandate is in place that we the citizens must buy health insurance from a for profit industry, the deed to the Henhouse is given to the Fox. Still, even with rivers of money guaranteed by that mandate to flow into the coffers of the Fox, it’s rapaciousness is never ending. As we saw at yesterday’Summit, the private health insurance companies, and the legislators who insist on a market based reform, want NO REGULATIONS. The Fox will decide who, when, and what it kills. That single payer is summarily dismissed because our legislators, and our president, demand that access to affordable, portable and equitable health care is nothing but a commodity, is intolerable. Single payer advocates must not give up. This is a national emergency.

I wrote Pres. Obama a postcard asking for the public option. And I phoned NY Sen. Gillebrand’s office asking them to meet with PNHP on heatlhcare.
Today I e-mailed NY Rep. Nadler asking him to attend the sidewalk summit in DC in front of Blair house Thurs Feb 25th. and referring him to PNHP’s press release on CommonDreams.org today.
And I e-mailed NY Sen. Schumer asking him to support us on health care, single payer, Medicare for 55s, public option, something!

Single Payer, Medicare for All, a gov’t run plan (like Fed workers have)- is what the American people deserve. Instead, Congress is casting the American people as a second rate society that doesn’t merit the same health coverage they enjoy. Our Government has never given the people the basic rights promised them – we have made gains by fighting for what is just and fair and that is what we need to do now. And we can’t stop there – we must overhaul our campagn laws so the people pay the cost of electing our representatives NOT SPECIAL INTERESTS.
Still unacceptable to vote yes as of March 19, 2010…Mandating everyone to pay for health insurance (including small businesses) or else pay penalties? That sounds extortion to me! What if your one of the 40 million who are uninsured and unemployed and also no money left after paying just the rent, food, basic clothing and transportation? double whammy! Where else these people get the money upfront to purchase health insurance? High interest loans? Your bailing out the banks and health insurance companies again!!!

Sure, the healthcare exchanges are supposed to help the 50 Million people attain affordable health insurance, but will it really? The premium might be affordable but what about the deductible and percentage the insurance will not cover? American’s need to think about that! Medicare for all was needed YESTERDAY! You may have insurance now, you may be healthy now, but when the day comes that you are not you will have wished we had single-payer/medicare for all!!!!

IT IS KILLING OUR SMALL BUSINESSES, MIDDLE-CLASS, INDUSTRY, SELF-EMPLOYED, & MOST OF ALL OUR FUTURES! AMERICA CANNOT SUSTAIN THE SKYROCKETING COSTS OF HEALTHCARE! HAVING HEALTH INSURANCE ONLY COVERS YOU “PARTLY” IT LEAVES HUGE GAPING HOLES THAT WILL CAUSE FINANCIAL RUIN. MEDICARE FOR ALL IS DESPERATELY NEEDED!
