Latino Caucus, California CLC, OPEIU Local Endorse HR 676

HR 676, single payer healthcare legislation, introduced by Congressman John Conyers (D-MI), has picked up three more labor endorsements.

Delegates to the 19th Annual Latino Caucus of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), meeting in Allentown, Pennsylvania at the end of September, endorsed HR 676, reports Jose G. Guerrero.

In California, the Napa/Solano Central Labor Council has also endorsed the Conyers legislation, reports Jon Riley, Council President. The Napa/Solano CLC is the 117th central labor council to endorse HR 676.

In New York City, Local 153 of the Office & Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) also endorsed HR 676 after hearing a talk by Paula Friedman, chair of the Retirees’ Committee of the Bergen County (NJ) Central Trades & Labor Council. The local represents workers in the tri-state area.

HR 676 has been endorsed by 473 union organizations in 49 states including 117 Central Labor Councils and Area Labor Federations and 39 state AFL-CIO’s (KY, PA, CT, OH, DE, ND, WA, SC, WY, VT, FL, WI, WV, SD, NC, MO, MN, ME, AR, MD-DC, TX, IA, AZ, TN, OR, GA, OK, KS, CO, IN, AL, CA, AK, MI, MT, NE, NY, NV & MA).
