ILWU Affiliate Endorses HR 676
Reno, Nevada. The American Radio Association, the Electronics and Information Technology affiliate of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) has endorsed HR 676, single payer legislation
introduced by Congressman John Conyers (D-MI).
The American Radio Association has been representing seagoing radio operators employed on U.S. flag merchant vessels since the 1930’s. It was chartered by the CIO in 1948.
Carl Young, ARA Secretary-Treasurer said: “We feel that universal and low cost healthcare is a must for our nation. We are only 60 years behind the United Kingdom who established universal healthcare when they were broke in the 1940’s in the aftermath of World War II. As trade unionists we always support jobs and healthcare for all Americans whether they happen to belong to unions or not. United we can change this situation with our ‘out of whack’ and unfair to all healthcare system.”
Young sent their HR 676 resolution to the Nevada senators and congresspersons.
