Entertainment Industry Unions Endorse HR 676

Two local unions in the entertainment industry have endorsed HR 676, single payer healthcare legislation introduced by Congressman John Conyers (D-MI).

In Weehawken, New Jersey, delegates to the District 10 Convention of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) endorsed the Conyers bill, reports Robert Score, a delegate to the convention and Recording Corresponding secretary of IATSE Local One.

In San Francisco, California, Gretchen Elliot, Secretary-Treasurer of Musicians Local 6 (AFM), reports that her local union has also adopted a resolution in support of HR 676.

HR 676 has been endorsed by 468 union organizations in 49 states including 116 Central Labor Councils and Area Labor Federations and 39 state AFL-CIO’s.
