California Man Jailed for Five Days After Sit-In at Blue Cross Office in Los Angeles

From Democracy Now

On Thursday, Sam Pullen was arrested at the Los Angeles offices of the insurance giant Blue Cross. He refused to give his information to police and vowed to remain in prison until Blue Cross agreed to hear demands that it stop denying doctor-recommended medical treatment to seriously ill patients. Despite his resistance, Pullen was finally ordered released from jail on Monday, against his will. In protesting Blue Shield, Sam Pullen was following in the footsteps of his late mother, who was diagnosed with cancer when he was a teenager. Leanna Bell staged a one-person sit-in in front of Blue Cross after the company denied her coverage for a bone marrow transplant. Blue Cross gave in, and the transplant helped extend her life for several years.

What a joke, Blue Cross of CA is not an insurance that backs their paying customers. When I divorced, part of my divorce decree was that my ex continued to pay for my sons healthcare, and we were to split all co-pays and medication. As he continued to do so as legally passed within CA the court system, the divorce decree also stated that I was to be able to move out of state ASAP as my son was to start school at the beginning of the school year. Thanks to CA Blue Cross, my son has been discriminated against as legal documentation was passed through the state of CA, and now Blue Cross does not want to comply by the orders the CA court passed that we comply to. Hummmmm, maybe an atty should be contacted on this one? As for nation wide healthcare? My personal opinion? All for it, but do we actually think we can get our elected officials to get less healthcare than they are now recieving as they all get better healthcare as we pay for theirs as we pay for their salaries and curently give them better healthcare than we have? Hummmmm…. which elected official did this to us? Or shall I say…. why do we keep voting? Let’s just stop voting…. all of us, have no one in office, untill we get what we want. Enough said on my part.
