Ralph Nader on Secret White House Agreements with the Drug Industry

The Obama administration admitted last week it promised to oppose proposals to let the government negotiate drug prices and extract additional savings from drug companies. In return, drug companies reportedly pledged to reduce costs by up to $80 billion. The White House has tried to back off the reported agreements, but the drug industry says it expects the White House to uphold its pledge. We speak to former presidential candidate and longtime consumer advocate Ralph Nader.
The health care industry is winning this immoral war against health care reform. It sickens me to think that the public option, which is the only option that doesn’t profit for injuries and illnesses, is being dropped from the debate. How does any middle class person think that they will benefit from a plan developed by the same companies that profit from peoples miss fortunes? They are using injury and illness as a resource for profit and right now it’s worth more than gold!

THE WORLD CAN SEE THAT THE POWERS THAT BE IN THE U.S. DON’T CARE ABOUT ITS OWN PEOPLE! SO WHY SHOULD THEY THINK THAT THESE SAME POWERS THAT HAVE SUBJEGATED THEM IN THE PAST WILL CHANGE.
Obama has turned out to be a disappointment–more concerned about being re-elected than accomplishing true reform. It was obvious to everyone except to Obama(?)(not even he could be that stupid) that the profiteers in the healthcare industry had no intention of cutting their profits and were up to their old tricks of lies and deception. They have been at this for more than 60 years and Obama falls for their lies and trickery.
Remember single payer advocates that you still have an opportunity to register your wishes. A historic vote will take place this September. For the first time ever, there will be an up or down vote on single payer in the form of HR676. Contact your Representatives NOW and demand that they vote YES on HR676.
And while you are at it, urge them to enact public financing of elections.
It is very upsetting to see that our elected officials have given up on defending our citizens once again in favor of lining their pockets.
Interestingly this year, when the large corporation I work for, announced the new options for health insurance the resonably affordable HMO option had been eliminated. It was announced that it had become too expensive for the company and employees were not satisfied, so this year we had one of two options – a very expensive PPO and a very reasonably priced Health Savings Account (HSA).
Most of the lower waged earners could not afford the PPO, myself included, so we had to sign up with the HSA.
When I received my insurance card along with the card came another card, a CREDIT CARD issued by Aetna!!!! This card is for me to charge ON CREDIT anything over the amount the insurance company decides is not covered!!!! When I telephoned Aetna about it, I was told that they would only be charging a token amount for interest!
I was hopeful for change, but it appears that the “ILLNESS” of GREED trumps hope when it comes to doing what is right for the formerly known as Middle Class in this country.
This illness of insatiable greed is apparently contagious almost all of our elected officials are suffering from the affliction!!!
They need to be quarantined!!!
