VIDEO: THE ROAD TO 218+51

The Road to 218+51

To pass Medicare for All through Congress, we will need 218 votes in the House and 51 votes in the Senate - at minimum! We are about half way there in the House, and a quarter of the way there in the Senate. However, the 114 districts where we have successfully won over Representatives are fundamentally different than the next 118 districts where we still need to win Democratic Representatives over - different demographically and different politically - in ways that you might not expect. We also face unique challenges in the Senate, because of the lack of small-d democracy in the Senate, that we do not face in the House. Our Executive Director Ben Day takes a deep dive into how the organizing road ahead of us is different from the road behind us.
