Megan Shook – Maryland

Megan’s Story

Baltimore City retirees used to have a Medicare supplement offered as a benefit. In 2021 they switched to Aetna Medicare Advantage presumably to save the City money. We discovered that Aetna does not authorize services that Medicare does! My husband went to get an MRI at our nearby hospital where his doctor is, and when he showed up for the MRI they said he couldn’t have it because Aetna didn’t authorize it. So he had to go to a cheaper ambulatory provider elsewhere.
