Blue Shield Inspire HMO has 0 premium this year so that’s nice. The medical group is Brown and Toland. The main problem is that there are very few specialists that take these plans. For example, when I needed to see a rheumatologist, the closest one was in San Francisco: 14 miles, 30-80 minutes drive depending on bridge and city traffic; I am not comfortable driving in SF and it’s almost inaccessible by public transportation. Choice of local dermatologists and physical therapists is very limited too. The drug formulary does not cover one of my expensive prescriptions that I have taken for many years; fortunately my income is low enough that the manufacturer now provides it to me for free.
