I Support HR 676
Whereas: We spend over $2.3 trillion, or $7,500 per capita, for healthcare in the US, yet 42 percent of people under 65 have inadequate or no insurance coverage;
Whereas: The healthcare coverage in the United States is ranked #37 in the world by the World Health Organization and yet we spend almost twice as much as any other country, enough to cover everybody with excellent comprehensive healthcare;
Whereas: A bill has been proposed in Congress, HR-676, non-profit Medicare for All, that outlines a national healthcare program that will provide guaranteed, comprehensive, and affordable quality healthcare and prescription drugs to everyone in the country;
Whereas: Over 59 percent of physicians now support a national, single-payer health insurance system for everyone;
Whereas: HR 676 has been endorsed by 558 union organizations in 49 states including 130 Central Labor Councils and Area Labor Federations and 39 state AFL-CIO’s;
Whereas: Under this proposed plan, we can pay for a comprehensive national health care program with the same money we are now spending by removing insurance companies — and cover every single person in the United States;
And Whereas: The bill provides money for retraining and giving priority to those whose jobs as administrators in the insurance industry would be lost as a result of this shift;
Be it Resolved That: We call on our members of Congress to pass HR 676, non-profit Medicare for All, so our people and our nation can have the excellent healthcare system we deserve. Healthcare is a human right, and we call on our members of Congress to recognize that right.

"No Health Care Reform ! ! !"
Shelley Van Atta, Billings, MT 59102
"My family is prosperous and has outstanding health care coverage, but I am outraged at the degradation and ruin other families have had to suffer because of the scandalous health care system in this country. The exorbitant amount of money we spend on health premiums could be better spent on charity organizations, not lining the pockets of health insurance companies. America is the most prosperous country in the world, yet we have donation jars in our local grocery stores for those who cannot afford medical treatment for their beloved family members. This goes beyond being reprehensible. It is criminal. Please quit the partisan fighting and do what is best for the country. Be the grown-ups in our American family and think of what's best for all, not what's politically expedient. That is what you were elected to do. The only winners thus far are the insurance companies, and that truly is appalling. We need a single-payer system where everyone is treated equally, and no family has to suffer through bankruptcy or financial constraints to afford health care. Nobody ever should have to decide on whether they can afford to treat a life-threatening illness. Health care reform literally is an issue of life and death. Please treat it as such and give it the attention it deserves. While the politicians are fighting, Americans are needlessly suffering and dying. "

"Dear Congress
I have been voting since I was 18. It wasn’t till this latest election that my candidate for president was the victor. I had to sit by as President Bush gave two tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans. I had to accept two wars paid by deficit. I had to condone deregulation of the financial system “Were gonna let the bulls out!” yeah right. Many of the decisions that have brought our country to its current state were made without my blessing.
I believe that no one should be over taxed however many Americans are not paying their fair share. If you make 200,000.00$ per year you can easily pay more in taxes. I have six associate degrees. It is very likely that in the near future I may be making a very decent salary. I am very patriotic in the desire that my taxes are going to help pay for many entitlements for my fellow Americans (boomers).
I am a believer in making good investments. Investments in health care companies that takes 30% of our premium as overhead is a terrible investment. I will never buy into a health care program unless like Medicare all the money that goes in is close to the same amount that is paid out. And really what is the point in buying a private policy? When you become ill, they will drop you from your policy anyway. Any representative that is not a holy subsidiary of the insurance company can easily see that the 30% overhead is where the majority of our savings are.
I believe that besides Health care our biggest economic hurdle is cheap oversea labor. The world economy is past due to require that all developed countries compete on an even playing field easily achievable by means of associated currency rate minimum wage standards. Like our banking industry, all companies regardless of type or location (China) need basic parameters of ethical conduct. Parameters set to achieve a balance that allows businesses to remain profitable while also paying and treating employees fairly must not only be an American and European trait. And for pete sake regulations on banks made after The Great Depression were set in place for a reasons and not to be MEST WITH!!!
So ultimately what I am saying is when is it my turn? I have been voting for 12 years – I finally get my candidate elected- I believe in everything on his platform- Obama pushes our agenda- republicans filibuster everything-After years of terrible governing – I still do not get a turn! When is it my turn?
“What definition of patriotism could one make if not the desire to care for our people?” – Derek James Johnson

"my grandmother has dementia, and she's been turned down from nursing homes because she has no insurance, now she's getting no official care, because she spent all of her savings being put in a nursing home 2 years ago and then she had to be released. I pray that with this petition, those idiots over in capital hill will recognize that we need a change in health care."

"It is shameful for the wealthiest country in the world to fail its citizens in this critical respect, the only industrialized nation without such universal health care coverage. It is morally despicable and economically and socially destructive."
