It is incumbent upon Gov. Schwartzneger too accept the bill. Too many Californians are in economic peril because of the dizzying acceleration of health care -- note the recent increase by Anthem/Blue Cross for the year -- disgraceful. I am a retired educator. I have watched my saving ruined by a combination of stock losses and outrageous medical bills for a degenerative disease with no known cause or cure. My daughter, a frugal and highly successful business woman watched her 401K diminash, contracted a rare disorder that baffles her doctors and left her unable to work. She could only get catastrophic health insurance, has moved in with me and I am danger of losing my home because of medical debt. And we are typical of millions more. In the Land of the Free, how free are we? How can Americans hold themselves as world leaders when they neglect the needs of their own hard working, honest citizens?

R. Johns,
Thanks for your support for us in California. We are undaunted and have been moving the bill for 8 years. Not to brag, but our bill, written by a nurse collaborating with all the stakeholders, is very well written.
I attended a great Single Payer Rally in Sacramento on Jan. 11 with 500 medical students which energized us to continue our fight for the only true, fair, affordable reform. Every other industrialized country has coverage for their residents and none of them want the US system. Profit and greed have no place in health care.

Go California! You must show the country that real health reform is a single payer plan administered by local government, not Wall Street health care insurance gangsters. Hopefully nothing comes out of Washington and more states can adopt a single payer healthcare system.
